Artistic Journey

Goce Bozhurski was born in 1958 in Kumanovo, North Macedonia. Over the course of his artistic career, he has held more than thirty solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions and art colonies across the country and the region. His work has earned him a number of prestigious national and international awards, including the Second Prize at DLUK, the “Konstantin Mazev” Award, the DLUM Small Format Award “Dimitar Kondovski,” the “Metodija Ivanovski Mende” Award, the Special Prize for Painting at the 6th International Biennale of Miniature Art in Gornji Milanovac (Serbia), the November Award of Kumanovo, the Plaque for Contribution to the Development of Culture in Kumanovo, the “Dimitar Kondovski” Award for Painting (DLUM), and DLUM’s “Golden Brush,” among others.

In addition to his artistic practice, Bozhurski is actively engaged in art criticism. His writings have appeared in Sovremenost, Kulturen Život, Koreni, Beseda, Utrinski Vesnik, Nova Makedonija, the renowned magazine Likovni Život (Belgrade, Serbia), and several other publications. He is the author of numerous essays, reviews, and forewords in exhibition catalogues for both domestic and international artists.

In recent years, his focus has extended to research on naïve art in North Macedonia. He has published over ten books dedicated to Macedonian naïve artists from the recent past, contributing significantly to the documentation and recognition of this artistic tradition.

His solo exhibitions have been presented in cities such as Skopje, Kumanovo, Ohrid, Vranje, Belgrade, Banja Luka, Sarajevo, Paris, Pisa and others. He has also taken part in over twenty art colonies throughout Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and Bulgaria.
